Brinnon is about 60 miles north of Olympia on the east side of the Olympic Peninsula.

Jefferson County sheriff's deputies and fire personnel responded around 1 a.m. to a report of a house fire on Salmon Street.
"Neighbors reported hearing an explosion and state the hillside was on fire and the house, a small rental cabin, was gone," the Department of Emergency Management for Jefferson County said in a press release.
However, Brinnon Fire Dept. Chief Tim Manly later confirmed Monday that the cabin was not a rental, but the victims' vacation cabin that they used on a regular basis.
Firefighters located the bodies of two adults and three children in the remnants of the cabin.
The Sheriff's Department requested the help of the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to investigate the explosion.
The cause and origin of the fire is not yet known and may take several weeks to determine. Officials said at this point, investigators do not believe the fire happened as the result of a criminal act.
The identity of the victims and their cause and manner of death will be released following autopsies.
